OSINT with intent

Without a research question, OSINT is noise. With one, it becomes signal.

Recon without a question produces volume. Volume falsely soothes — “we collected something.” Decisions need a hypothesis, sources, a conclusion, and a list of unknowns.

The Cyberside OSINT lab starts from the question. The tool (SpiderFoot and adjacent) is the executor, not the goal. The final artifact must still read a week later without replaying the session.

OPSEC is built into the method: operator identity, exposure, retention. Otherwise the research studies you, not the target.
